Women in East European and Baltic Literature and Culture: Subversive Reading and Identity Challenges

This ENLIGHT workshop, coordinated by Dr. Miglena Dikova-Milanova (Ghent University), brought together scholars from Ghent University, the University of Tartu, and the University of Göttingen. Building on a prior lecture series on Balkan literature, the event explored female representation and identity in East European and Baltic literary and cultural contexts. Participants analyzed subversive strategies in literature and film, recovered overlooked female voices, and engaged in interdisciplinary discussions integrating gender, literary, and cultural studies.
Voices of Brussels

Voices of Brussels is an Internationalisation at Home initiative organized at Ghent University. The project brings together students from the Department of Languages and Cultures and other humanities disciplines for a discussion lunch with four Bulgarian women writers living and working in Brussels: Irina Papancheva, Rusana Burdarska, Theodora Lalova-Spinks, and Svetlozara Kabaktchieva. These writers, active in both literature and professional spheres such as academia and the EU, will share their personal stories, literary insights, and reflections on life in Belgium. The event fosters cross-cultural dialogue and explores themes such as identity, migration, and the role of women in contemporary Europe.
AI Navigators: Empowering Teachers for the AI Era

The AI Navigators project is an ERASMUS + project which aims to boost AI literacy among teachers from North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Belgium. The initiative seeks to cultivate an innovative, AI-friendly environment, shaping future classrooms.
